It’s been FOREVER; but looking to checking in more often.;)

When I first opened up this account, I was hoping to blog about our life in Japan. Since then alot has happened.lol I’m hoping to be able to post more often. And by post, it’s going to be all random posts.=X So, if you’re still interested, stick around & hopefully I’ll figure out how to work this whole blogging thingy.LOL

Yo Gabba Gabba Cheese anyone? & Other Stuff.lol

Before I get to the goodies.lol Let me start by saying, I bought the cricut cake machine this past Christmas and well didn’t end up opening my new toy until now.lol Why you may ask? I was busy playing with my other toy…lol The Cricut Expression machine.lol Yes, I know spoiled right?lol j/k I’m far from it.:) They were both on sale during Thanksgiving & Christmas.whoohoo! You gotta love sales right?

I was abit intimidated about opening my cricut cake machine. But then I eased up and figured its just like the Cricut Expression.lol And to be honest, it certainly is; except one works with food and the other with paper.:) Well, I couldn’t remember how to upgrade my machine.lol =X But I figured it out and recalled back on when I updated my Cricut Expression. Soon after that everything was easy peasy!

Although, I didn’t have any fondant or frosting sheets around so I improvised. Hence, this is where the cheese comes in. First, I googled the idea and found it on someone’s blog. Unfortunately, I don’t recall who’s blog it was.eek! But they made it look so easy, that I figured I’d give it a try right at this second.lol I’m so glad I did; because I wanted to test out an idea for my Lil Andre’s birthday party. I wanted to make Yo Gabba Gabba character cookies but with their full body. I’ve googled and found a few people that have done only the face features. I wanted to take it up a notch and take the challenge of trying it with their full body. So, after a few ideas here and there and brainstorming as to how I can make this happen, I finally figured out what I can do. The fun part, is testing your theory out.:) Lucky for me, it was a success! Check them out yourself:

Do you see Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Toodee & Plex?;) How cool is that? So, Yo Gabba Gabba Cookie Cutter=CHECK! Now, to test my decorating skills.lol Yeah, that’s going to take some practice! Hopefully, not to long though, because Andre’s birthday party is in 3 weeks!eek! I have yet to finish his favor boxes.eek! I ended up changing his pic on the favor boxes because Hubby said it was an older pic.lol But I’m glad I did do the change, because it looks awesome! Thank goodness for a Cricut machine! I’ve about finished half of 50 favor boxes in half time it takes to do it by hand! I’ll show you guys the end product once I’m done completing all 50. Wish me luck!

I also got his birthday banner all done and ordered!whoohoo! I’m really happy with how it came out. Here’s a pic of his birthday banner:

I was also going to order colored desert plates and utensils; but decided not to do so last minute. We have alot of guests that are coming so there’s no point on making it look extra nice. But it would of been some “WOW” if I did go with that plan but due to budget constraints we figured we’d spend the money on more food or on something else.

I also got the cans all dolled up and ready to hold the utensils well minus DJ Lance.:) I totally forgot to create his face features when I did the other five characters. So, I’ll have to print him up with my second batch since Hubby painted 12 cans instead of the 6 I had asked for.lol The more the better; and I can use them for something else. I was thinking of doing Rice Crispie Treats on a sticks so these cans will come handy if I do.;) Here are the Yo Gabba Gabba cans:

All in all the party is coming together. We are already counting to the long drive back to California.ha We can’t wait to see our family since it’s been months since we last seen them! Not to mention all the food spots in California!YUM! We want some In-And-Out, Albertos, La Barca, Fay Yin, Claim Jumpers, and Del Taco!:D And hopefully unveil some new hidden food spots on the way to or on the way back from California.;D  I can’t wait!whoohoo! Andre’s 1st Birthday/Baptism Planning

My lil Andre is turning ONE on April 02, 2011. *tearz* How time flies?! Well, in honor of his first milestone, Hubby and I are throwing him a 1st Birthday/Baptism party. We figured, why not kill two birds with one stone?;) So, can you say “Major Party Planning”?lol

We decided to go with a Yo Gabba Gabba theme. I first chose Spongebob, since Andre was addicted to that cartoon show in the beginning. But later Hubby suggested to change it to YGG, since we noticed he was more into YGG. I was up for the change.;) Looking for Spongebob party supplies/favors were coming to be pricey. Long story short, I’m glad we changed the theme!

If you don’t know what Yo Gabba Gabba is…its a kids show on Nick Jr. The show is very colorful with six main characters: Dj Lance, Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Toodee and Plex. Lucky for me, I found a fan site called GabbaFriends.com that is dedicated to all Yo Gabba Gabba. I was so excited because the site had so many ideas/tutorials on a YGG birthday party. I also found that Nick Jr has a website with other printable cool stuff of Yo Gabba Gabba. *Jumps up and down* ;D With so many resources, I ended up brainstorming a whole lot of ideas!lol

Here is the Front of the Invitation. The image is a sticker, so the recipient will have to cut through the boombox button center to open the invitation.

Here is the inside of the invitation. Excuse the white boxes! I didn’t want to post info that shouldn’t be broadcast all over the internet.lol

For the inside of the invitation, I got the idea from a fellow Yo Gabba Gabba fan. My apologies, I don’t exactly remember from where or who. Anyway, I incorporated all four Yo Gabba Gabba lands into the invitation. All 150 invitations were printed off through my home printer and then were cut and folded. The stickers in the front were also printed off of my printer with the use of my computer and Photoshop Elements.;) I printed them all on an 8.5×11 sticker paper and then cut each piece out with my Cricut Expression.;D I really wanted to just print the boombox buttons onto the invitation itself, but I couldn’t get them to line up correctly and I was in a time crunch to be able to send these out on time. Either way, I think they came out really beautiful!

Here are the matching envelopes and R.S.V.P. cards that I made to go with them:

What’s a party without balloons?;D We decided to go with all 6 colors: Orange (Dj Lance), Red (Muno), Pink (Foofa), Green (Brobee) Blue (Toodee) and Yellow (Plex). On GabbaFriends.com, I’ve seen a few parties where they decorate the balloons with the characters faces. We are definitely going to do that. I’ll be printing the faces onto sticker paper and cutting them out with my cricut.;)

I haven’t decided on the birthday/baptism banner yet. I’ve seen a few parties with pennants as their birthday sign. I like that idea, but I think I’m leaning more towards a vinyl sign instead. A GabbaFriend.com fan printed a banner sign from VistaPrint. So, I might just create my own banner and get it printed from VistaPrint.

For the favors, we had lil gumball machines and bubbles in mind. But with money constraints, we’ve decided to go with a box of animal crackers and baby food jars filled with candy. I thought that it’d be easier if I just buy those animal crackers in a box. You know the one’s most of you grew up with and to know?;D But they were kinda out of our budget since we are having a big party with a lot of guests.eek! So, I decided to DIY instead. I almost gave up the idea until I found Tracy from Inky-doodles.blogspot.com! She is a lifesaver! She’s very talented and creative! With her tutorial on how to make an animal cracker box, this is what I came up with:

This was my tester box!lol Hence, the purple ribbon.lol Anyway, I used photoshop elements to design the box. I then transferred the design to my Cricut Software (Make the Cut) so that I can cut and score the box. Once that was done, I assembled the box with no problems.;D I was so HAPPY once I finished the tester box! Before finding Tracy’s blog, I tried copying the animal cracker box by using its box as a template. I failed miserably and each box that I tried to fold…well lets say they didn’t stand up as a box!lol I love this box template though. It is very durable. To test it, I put in 4 mini size packs of skittles in them. Hubby tested its durability and I’m happy to announce it passed.;D So favor boxes: CHECK! Well, in the works to completing, I mean.lol BIG THANKS to TRACY again! You are so AWESOME!

I got a sticker sheet from Nick Jr to print out some stickers for the kiddos, as well as some other few printable stuff.

Food: CHECK!;D I have my loving family contributing into this area. THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE! I’m debating on chocolate covered oreos with “Happy Bday”, Yo Gabba Gabba Characters or Baptism Crosses on them. Still iffy on Yo Gabba Gabba characters on cupcakes or on rice crispies.;D I seen these ideas on GabbaFriends.com in a few parties.

For games, I wanted to get the Tic-Tac-Toe Game and change up the X’s & O’s to Two of the Yo Gabba Gabba Characters.;D I also liked the Pin the Eye on Muno or the Brobee There’s a Party in My Tummy game also seen on GabbaFriends.com. Ofcourse there will be a pinata and a bounce house. Can’t forget that!;D

It’s been ages, but I’m BACK!

So, sorry for not posting sooner!eek! It’s been ages, since I last posted on here. I actually forgot I had this blog!ahhhh! Can you say “Abandonment”? lol

Anyway, a lot has happened since my last post. To sum it all up, we have moved back into the States as of July 2010. Sadly, we had to say “Goodbye” to Okinawa, Japan. We miss that place so much, but we are enjoying our new home here in the states in Washington. We also have an addition to our family as of April 02, 2010! I’ll have to write a post about him later. In the mean time, I would like to introduce you to:

Andre Sylas

Age: 8 Months

Theme: Christmas 2010

Humm…wat else? I’ve decided to stay home w/Andre for the time being. And let me tell you, it has been a blessing watching this lil guy grow! I’m truly thankful & really blessed to be able to stay at home with him at this age.

Ben & Lolah made it to the STATES!;) In my previous post, I’ve talked about how we got them and how we’re going to be their last home! We were not going to leave them behind like their past owners. They have both grown on us and love them to pieces! I’ll have to write a post about our trip back to the states with our two dogs, and a baby!

To end this post, my family and I are doing well. We miss our family back in California, but at least we’re a lot closer to California.;) We’re also in the works of planning our son’s 1st Birthday! Oh, my! How time flies! We’ve decided to do a Yo Gabba Gabba Theme since it’s Andre’s favorite show. I’ll definitely be posting about his party planning.;)

Meet BEN & Lolah

 Here are our babies: BEN (on the left) & Lolah (on the right)

We got Ben a month after we got here on Okinawa.  The last owner that was giving him away because they wanted to focus on their other maltese that was suffering from a brain tumor.  The other maltese was Ben’s girlfriend at the time.  When we first met Ben, he automatically ran to the door to greet us.  He had so much energy in him that my first thought was, “Aww, what a cutie!” After talking to the last owner, I foundout that we were his third home.  Ben’s first owner had left him behind due to PCS-ing and his second owner decided to take him in to company her other maltese.  Poor little guy has been bouncing around home to home, but not no more!  Ben quickly jumped into our car and we took him home.

We got Lolah from another family as well.  After posting a wanted ad for a female maltese, we finally got a call for one.  Lolah’s last owner was giving her away, because the husband didn’t want to keep her anymore.  You may have noticed that Lolah’s coat is PINK.  You’re not seeing things and it definitely isn’t Photoshop.lol  The last owner had a younger daughter who had a “PRINCESS” themed party.  So everything had to be PINK including the dog.tehehe  She was actually HOT PINK, but after a few months she’s starting to get her white coat back.
